Let's Shake Hands

The Newcomers Tutoring Program is delighted to collaborate with Let's Shake Hands, an organization committed to aiding children affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Our program is dedicated to serving and enhancing the lives of newcomers in Canada, striving to create positive change and make a difference for the individuals we support. We strongly believe in expressing gratitude for our community's support, which drives our commitment to assist and positively impact those in need. This partnership offers members of our program an opportunity to broaden our reach and have a meaningful impact on the lives of young individuals who require our support. By becoming mentors, we can brighten their future and strengthen our communities.

About Them

The Let's Shake Hands project was created at the beginning of the war by a 15 year old Ukrainian
teenager Ivan Lepskiy. From the beginning Ivan and his team of volunteers wanted to support innocent
children who woke up one day and found out that their country had been attacked. A few months later,
their amazing project has brought together thousands of mentors and students from all around the world.
From a small idea just to help kids, it has grown into a large community where Ukrainian children can
find new friends and continue their studies, where mentors feel that they are being helpful, and children
feel that they are not forgotten.

Their Mission

Now the Let’s Shake Hands community helps Ukrainian children in learning a foreign language of the
country where they were forced to move to, as well as to adapt there. Also, our mentors help kids to solve
their educational needs and integrate the acquired knowledge into a new school life. And the most
important part of the project is the opportunity to communicate with peers, which brings some light into
the lives of Ukrainian children and gets them away from negative aspects of a refugee’s life.

Global Aim

If you want to make a huge difference in improving the lives of young people affected by the war, you
can join the Let’s Shake Hands movement and become a mentor – teach, communicate, and support.
You don't have to be an expert in teaching but just be willing to help! You have the opportunity to help
Ukrainian children return to a normal life. Our organization also strives to support mentors in developing
skills such as communication, time management, and creative thinking. We plan to organize various
master classes, livestreams with professionals, and many other useful events for mentors soon. Our
global aim is to help not only Ukrainian refugee children, but the young people all around the world to
get the necessary free knowledge at a convenient time.

Join the Let's Shake Hands project today and help us to make the world a better place!
